Religion/Philosophy: I have a deeply held personal philosophy which borrows from Existentialism, Judeo-Christian ethics and modern science.

For a long time I didn't consider myself a spiritual person. To me, spirituality always meant going to church and believing whatever parts of the Bible someone told you to or buying quarts crystals and feeling the energy or vibrations or whatever. Over the last few years, however, I have come to realize that spirituality is a broader more useful concept than religious affiliation. It is your sense of connectedness and your sense of independence; it is your sense of purpose and your relationship with meaninglessness; it is God's plan within you and sterile molecules bouncing around randomly.

I believe in free will. I do not pretend to prove it, a la Descartes, but I'm willing to accept it as a starting point. I do not believe in God as a wise old man or a jealously childish bully. I think morals and meanings have no a priori existence, but I do not think that means we can have no laws and that serial killers should be as respected as bankers. Rather, it's extremely valuable that people choose their beliefs thoughtfully and that society, as a whole, mirrors this internal discussion. Therefor I believe in strong free speech and clearheadedness. Therefor I strive to keep my mind and body in shape and free of lazy influences like dogma and alcohol.

My goal is to live life, neither doing the same thing every day nor chalking up new experiences on a scoreboard.
